Meet a Team Rider: Gerald Rosenkranz
When you speak his last name out loud, you get an idea of Gerald’s riding style: Rough and fast. As one of the newest members of the KH Factory Team, he has already started practising for next Unicon. That said, it doesn’t need more than a bag of chips to distract him. We managed to sit this fast moving guy down for a minute and ask him about his season.
Hi Gerald! How was your riding season this year?
After becoming this year´s Austrian Champion in Cross Country and third in Downhill, all I had in my mind was my biggest race this year - the Red Bull Dolomitenmann which is an established extreme sport team event in Austria, including trail running, kayaking, paragliding and mountain biking. It is known to be one of the hardest team events on earth and the media covers it all around the world. I competed on my KH26 instead of a mountain bike and was accompanied by a great team. It was definitely the toughest race I have ever done, but in the end I proved to myself and all the two-wheelers out there that is is doable.
What else have you been up to in the past?
My biggest success was the Downhill Bronze Medal at Unicon 17 in Montreal. I put so much effort in it and I am glad that it paid off with a good result. Also I got Austrian Champion in both Downhill and Cross Country at the Salzkammergut Trophy in Austria in 2014. In January this year I got invited to the Red Bull Crashed Ice Riders Cup to race down the ice with my unicycle. There were more than 4000 spectators that cheered and screamed – the feeling was extraordinary!
Fun fact about you?
Chips - oh man I loooove Chips. If you want to have me as a friend, just bring chips :P
How do you feel about having made the KH Factory Team?
For me personally it seems to be the biggest accomplishment to be on the team. Not only do many people know Kris Holm, his products are made with dedication and love and they are so sophisticated - I couldn’t be happier to represent this brand.
Also the team is absolutely stunning. It is hard to be one of the best riders in the world but it´s much harder to be both the best AND have a great personality. The KH Team is one big gathering of these type of people and it is always a pleasure to ride with them, hang out and do projects together ;)
Anything else you’d like the world to know?
This is Downhill!!
Thanks for the nice chat, Gerald. We are looking forward to hear more great news in the future.
