Hugo Duguay is one of Canada's best street unicycle riders and placed seventh in the street competition at the 2012 World Championships in Brixen, Italy. Although his focus is street riding, Hugo has added cross-country, downhill, trials and distance to his skills in recent years as well. Hugo gives back to the Quebec riding scene as vice-president of Monotréal, Québec’s unicycling organization, and through his active role in helping organize Quebec unicycling events.
Personal Story
I learnt to ride a unicycle at my elementary school when I was 9 years old. We used to do circus activities and unicycling was the discipline that suited me the most. Afterwards, when I was 13, a friend and I started hopping around and we discovered extreme unicycling thanks to the trailer from Universe 2.
Since that day, I never stopped riding. I like the fact that unicycling stands out from other sports and that it is still young. I feel that there is still a lot we can do to influence its development in a positive way and I love the fact that I can participate in this.
In the 11 years that I have been riding, the accomplishment I am still the most proud of is learning to ride. It is without a doubt the decision I made that had the greatest impact on my life.
